INTERNATIONAL ANGELMAN SYNDROME DAY
On February 15, 2025, Bank of America Plaza will light blue for International Angelman Syndrome Day. Angelman Syndrome is a rare neurogenetic disorder that affects chromosome 15, resulting in intellectual and developmental delays. It affects about 1 in 15,000 people worldwide. People with Angelman syndrome have developmental problems that become noticeable at the age of 6 – 12 months. Common signs and symptoms usually appear in early childhood. Angelman syndrome shares symptoms and characteristics with other disorders, including autism, cerebral palsy, and Prader-Willi syndrome. Due to the common factors, misdiagnosis occurs often. It is believed that there is a high chance of finding a cure for Angelman syndrome due to the fact that scientists know what causes AS and have been able to reverse it in trials.

As a testament of our continued efforts to deliver best-in-class environments, Metropolis, together with our property management teams, partnered with Fitwel, UL and the US Green Building Council (USGBC), all of whom independently validated that the building’s operational strategies are optimized to enhance building occupant health and wellness.


FITWEL CERTIFIED

Metropolis also collaborated with UL as an early adopter of their new voluntary program for real estate owners who want to demonstrate their commitment to healthy indoor environments through an extensive process of indoor air quality (IAQ) and water testing and assessment. Bank of America Plaza proudly received its UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Air and Water quality. This verification is a significant milestone in our BeWell™ Promise to deliver an indoor environment with superior air quality that supports health and wellbeing.

Metropolis also collaborated with UL as an early adopter of their new voluntary program for real estate owners who want to demonstrate their commitment to delivering healthy indoor environments through an extensive process of indoor air testing and assessment. The USBGC launched its new LEED Safety First credits program in 2020 as part of its Healthy Economy Strategy to address concerns related to the pandemic and to assist with building re-entry. As a result, Bank of America Plaza proactively sought LEED Safety First credits, and the building has since earned credits for Cleaning and Disinfecting, which validate that the building’s best practices align with public health and industry guidelines.

As an ENERGY STAR® Partner, we have joined a distinguished network of organizations that prioritize reducing energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions at all Metropolis assets including Bank of America Plaza. We believe this organization-wide initiative will contribute to a greener and more sustainable world for future generations.
